I am talking with someone. Let’s say a friend, a relative, a colleague at work, owner of a shop I am visiting or a complete stranger, basically anyone.
They go on to tell something, it is interesting, it grabs my attention. Then I jump in. I may have something to add, or I may have a better story than them.
This is a major weekness. The eagerness to add and engage had lost me so much opportunity to learn from someone.
Something I am practicing now in conversations is to
1) Zip my mouth with awareness that if I jump in, I am gonna lose.
2) Engage in conversation by asking more questions from the person and wait in patience.
